David & Beth - Engagement Session in Downtown Austin!

David & Beth met at a Karaoke bar called the Canary Roost on 12/30/2017. She liked him right away, he smiled a lot & paid attention to what she said. Since she was planning on moving back home to Michigan in May 2018, she had no qualms asking him a bunch of questions like "what is your credit score?"…LOL! He was probably a little taken aback by her because not only did she yell at him for taking someone else’s seat, but she was asking him such personal questions! He was definitely intrigued, but a little hesitant since he had just broken up with his girlfriend hours before meeting her.

Kali is their dog. Beth has had her since she was 4 months old and she will soon be 15 years old! She is such a sweet girl!

A week later, after meeting, they went on their first date. Beth is a huge hockey lover, and David had never been to a game before. So she bought tickets to see a Texas Stars game in Cedar Park. She got them seats right on the glass, so that David could take in the whole experience, and be right where the action was. He loved it! They ”officially” began dating that same weekend. A week later they knew they had met their “person”

David and Beth planned a trip to New York City that was meant to celebrate Beth’s 40th birthday. One of her favorite musicians was traveling to New York City to perform, and tickets were priced just right. David had never been to New York and thought this would be a great trip for her birthday, so he agreed to go! At the time, David already knew he wanted to marry Beth, and had even talked to his family, friends, her family, and had already asked her dad for her hand in marriage! He just needed the right opportunity to present itself so he could ask her. New York City, “how cliché” he thought. “She will see that kind of proposal coming a mile away… or will she?” he said to himself. For the next few months he put a plan into action which greatly increased savings, and diminished unnecessary spending. David had made plans for a Horse-carriage ride through Central Park the evening they arrived. David began to get nervous on stop #2, but Beth was unaware that this would be the most memorable stop on Bow Bridge. They both looked over the bridge at the water as the driver asked if they would like their picture taken. They both said Yes… but instead David got on one knee and said “I love you so much, that I don’t even mind that life made me wait so long to find you. The waiting only made the finding you that much sweeter." Beth was on the verge of tears as she could hear the Ring Pop wrapper coming out of David’s pocket. David took out the candy and placed it on the handrail of the bridge as a look of confusion crossed Beth’s face. He reached into his pocket again, and pulled out a ring box. He opened the box to reveal the ring that Beth had always wanted! Beth was crying as uncontrollable tears ran down her face. David, with his heart pounding, filled with so much emotion, then asked her “Will You Marry Me?” She pulled David up off of his knee by his face, and said “I will.” The rest of the trip was fun and exciting, but a little hard to top that proposal! SO romantic! Who WOULDN’T have said yes to a guy who put so much thought, feeling, time and effort into planning the perfect proposal!

I love this one! Aren’t they just perfect!?!

When I asked how they were feeling about the engagement session, Beth said “My expectations were totally surpassed and exceeded. Rebecca was extremely adaptive, helpful, and knew what to capture and pick out at each spot we stopped at. My vision was to capture Austin and boy did we! Since we fell in love in Austin, it was important to us to have it as our backdrop. At first we were nervous, because we had never taken professional photos before, but now we know what to expect on the day of our wedding, and will be much more comfortable with our poses.

Wow! That was so great to hear! I was so excited to work with this couple. They were adventurous, and fun, open to anything! The thing that came through during the session was that they truly love each other, so my goal was to capture that in my images.

Aren’t they cute?! Another one of my favs!

David and Beth were great to work with, and I am so looking forward to their wedding at Twisted Ranch in February!

My brother, James Simmons of Austin Area Weddings will officiate the wedding, and I just love working with him! I know that all who attend will have a great time!
